About Project

The Maurepas Pipeline is a pipeline system consisting of three separate transportation pipes serving refineries in the Gulf Coast region of Louisiana. SemGroup® Corporation (NYSE:SEMG) owns and operates the system.

One Maurepas – Three Separate Pipelines

  • 24-inch, 34.2 mile crude oil pipeline connected to LOCAP, crossing the Mississippi River and terminating at Shell's Norco refinery;
  • 12-inch, 35 mile intermediates pipeline between Shell's Norco and Convent refineries; and
  • 6-inch, 34 mile intermediates pipeline between Shell's Norco and Convent refineries.

The pipeline route, which involves the Ascension, St. Charles, St. James and St. John the Baptist parishes in Louisiana, was selected to minimize impacts to the land, environment and landowners. Route selection involved balancing different factors such as length, sensitive environmental features (rivers, wetlands, endangered and protected species), construction issues, paralleling existing infrastructure such as roads and other pipelines and considering stakeholder concerns.

The pipeline system is designed to enable the refineries to integrate and optimize operations while providing safe and reliable access to domestically produced and predominately light, sweet crude oil.
